While some atheists believe there is no god, most simply do not believe there is a god. It's a subtle but important difference between believing A is not True and not believing A is True. The second leaves open the possibility that A is True. Pragmatically, there may be no difference in how you behave. I do not believe there is a god, and given the lack of evidence in a god I behave as if there is no god.
