When my daughter was about two we went into a shop and were served by a black man. My daughter burst into tears, she was frightened of him. My wife, my daughter's mother, is black African, so where did this fear come from? It's fear of the unknown. My daughter had met many black women, but no black men - that's just the nature of my wife's family and our friends near to us at the time. So a black man was unknown to her. Some people never meet enough people different from themselves to overcome this fear of the unknown. It doesn't necessarily make them racists.
