We don't know how life started, although there are several plausible hypotheses, but there is a huge amount of evidence for what happened after that. Not a lot of faith needed. And at least there is evidence for most of it, which you cannot claim for Christian views of creation, for which there is bugger all evidence and a lot of counter-evidence.
