Not strictly relevant, but I thought you might be interested in a story from a different angle on buying "Black" cosmetics.

Before Mac was widely available in the UK, whenever I was in the US on business I would take a list from my wife of what she wanted. I got some strange looks from shop assistants - what's this white man doing buying cosmetics for Black skin? Even more so on one occasion when I went into a store with a white woman colleague and I was buying shades that clearly would not suit her.

And then there was the time I needed a haircut in LA and went into a Black barbers...
