No, no, no. Read the article. It says you need that much FLUID a day. Much of that doesn't come from drinking. And indeed that article contradicts itself later by saying the eight glasses "rule" is more than enough for some people. The actual report (https://www.nationalacademies.org/news/2004/02/report-sets-dietary-intake-levels-for-water-salt-and-potassium-to-maintain-health-and-reduce-chronic-disease-risk) actually says that this is the amount of fluid for people who "appear to be adequately hydrated". It doesn't actually say that's what you need. A subtle difference, but important.
