If you stop taking the Bible literally then you have to interpret what it means. Who is to say which interpretation is correct? As an example, Original Sin only makes any sense at all if Adam & Eve are real. As they are clearly not, then Original Sin makes no sense. If Original Sin makes no sense, the whole basis for Christianity falls apart.
