I would extend your argument - it's not that the bible was written in A different reality from us, it was written in several different realities. Taking just one example, the Old Testament moves from being monotheistic in Genesis to acknowledging several gods in later books (with nothing to really say which of these gods is top dog, just that one prefers the Jews over other peoples) then back to monotheism. The New Testament is entirely monotheistic (accepting the Trinity as one god). There is a strand of thought in Hindu theology that the different gods of humanity's various religions are merely different avatars of Hindu gods, typically Vishnu. That claim seems as plausible as any other in religion.
