I agree with all of these. One you missed that is very common is that success is solely down to hard work. Generally, you don't succeed without hard work (I don't count inheriting wealth as success, pleasant though it might be). But you can work very hard at something that will never pay off. So you need to choose (assuming you can) work that will pay off. And that often involves a fair bit of luck.
